about

For several years I suffered from crippling anxiety and panic attacks, and in the midst of that, just over 6 years ago, I played my first ‘open mic’. In retrospect, maybe that wasn’t my best idea ever. I still get nervous now and again when I get onstage, but there’s something powerful in giving it your all, taking your lumps, accepting who you are, and just letting it be ‘alright’. My humble suggestion is to hop in your car, lower the windows and crank ‘Pretty Good Tonight’ as loud as you can as you’re driving down the highway. That’s my plan.

lyrics

Pretty Good Tonight
By Dan Weber © 2015 Highway142Music (ASCAP)

I was never cool in High School; I just did not fit in
I was somewhere between the jocks and the geeks, but I was never part of them
And I didn’t have a plan for what came next; they said my future wasn’t bright
Well I don’t know about you, but I still ain’t cool, but I feel Pretty Good Tonight

Ain’t life changed a lot since then; no use in keeping score
I don’t worry about fittin’ in, with that ‘In’ crowd no more
I made my mistakes along the way, sometimes I made ‘em twice
Call that luck or perseverance, but I feel Pretty Good Tonight

Chorus:
I feel like celebrating tonight!
How we got these scars, and still survived the fight
And knowin’ who we are, and knowin’ it’s alright---it’s alright

Now I’ve got gas in the car, a tab at the bar, a little money in the bank
I’ve got a friend who says I’ve got it made, but that’s not what I think
I think I’m lucky to have a friend like that, who thinks that I’m alright
And we can pay that tab tomorrow, ‘cause I feel Pretty Good Tonight

Repeat Chorus

I’ve been runnin’ from myself, most of my life
But that was then and this is now
And I feel Pretty Good Tonight, Pretty Good Tonight

For so many years, I was too scared, to get up here on stage
Till I finally learned I had to get, out of my own way
You see, you’ve gotta chase the things you love, let your dreams take flight
You know I’m still scared sometimes but I don’t mind, ‘cause I feel Pretty Good Tonight

Repeat Chorus

So I feel Pretty Good Tonight; Yeah I feel Pretty Good Tonight
I feel Pretty Good; I feel Pretty Good; I feel Pretty Good Tonight
Pretty Good Tonight, Pretty Good Tonight, Pretty Good Tonight…
